Thanks to our generous donors, the WWCC Foundation awards more than 500 scholarships annually in amounts typically between $1,000-$2,000. Students are required to complete only one application to be considered for all scholarships.

A

Mark A. Anderson Enology and Viticulture Opportunity Fund

Established: 2018

This fund honors the legacy of Mark Anderson, a devoted husband, father, and true pioneer in art and wine for the Walla Walla Valley. Recipients must be in the Enology & Viticulture program. Preference will be given to students who identify as BIPOC, students from traditionally underserved populations and those with demonstrated financial need.

Joanne Lee Arnone Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established: 2015

In memory of Joanne Lee Arnone, this fund was established to provide support to WWCC students in the Nursing program on the Clarkston Campus.

AVISTA “Minds in Motion” Scholarship

Established: 2001

This fund was established to provide two scholarships annually to students who demonstrate strong potential outside of the classroom. To be eligibile students must maintain a 2.5 GPA in one of the following areas of study: information technology, business management, accounting, or math.

B

Baha’i Faith Scholarship Fund

Established: 2015

This fund is supported by members of the Baha’i faith, and was established to support a WWCC student.

Baker Boyer Bank Scholarship

Established: 2014

This fund was established to support three WWCC students annually. One recipient will be a student planning to transfer to a 4-year college. One recipient will be a student enrolled in a Workforce program. And one recipient will be a student enrolled in the Nursing program.

Biella Foundation Community and Technical College Scholarship

Established: 2016

This fund provides scholarships to any student enrolled full time at WWCC. The Biella Foundation has historically supported organizations helping families in distress, with a special emphasis on education. Their philosophy is simply to ‘help those in need.’  

Sandra Blackaby Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Established: 2007

This scholarship was established to support a full-time student regardless of their academic interest. Student should be making good progress toward graduation.

Dr. Michael Bottoms Memorial Enology and Viticulture Scholarship

Established: 2015

This fund was established in memory of Dr. Michael Bottoms to support a second year WWCC student enrolled in the Enology and Viticulture program.

Derek R. Brandes Scholarship

Established: 2020

This scholarship was established by Dave and Ann Brandes to honor their son Derek Brandes’ lifelong commitment to education. This fund provides student scholarships to encourage, support, and champion the dreams of Walla Walla Community College students.

Kristy Brashear Memorial Scholarship

Established 2012

In memory of Kristy Brashear, this scholarship was established to support two WWCC Nursing students annually. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Students should also show a clear desire to help others.

Brotherton Automotive Scholarship

Established: 2001

In memory of Tex Brotherton, this scholarship was established to support a student 25-years-old or younger with interest in the automotive industry.

Helen Callaway Memorial Cosmetology Scholarship

Established: 2021

This fund was established in memory of Helen Callaway, a lifelong beautician. Helen had a lifelong commitment to learning and education, working hard to ensure her three daughters and all her grandchildren graduated from college and were earned graduate degrees. This scholarship will support WWCC students with financial need enrolled in the Cosmetology program.

Vernon W. Carlson Memorial Scholarship

Established: 2010

This fund was established to support second year WWCC students in the Energy Systems Technology program. Recipients should have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

CHS Foundation Scholarship

Established: 2018

This fund was established to support the development of a new generation of agriculture leaders. Recipients will be enrolled in an agriculture or ag- related STEM area of study.

Stan Clarke Memorial Viticulture Scholarship

Established: 2007

This fund was established in memory of Stan Clarke, to provide scholarships for students demonstrating excellence in the Enology and Viticulture program. Preference is given to students who demonstrate interest in continuing their enology and viticulture education at Washington State University (WSU).

Clarkston Center Scholarship

Established: 2013

This fund was established with support many donors in the Clarkston area to provide scholarships to students attending WWCC on the Clarkston Campus.

Class of 1977 and Friends of Nursing Scholarship

Established: 2019

This fund continues with support from many WWCC nursing graduates. Led by graduates from the class of 1977, nursing program alumni continue to support current students enrolled in the Nursing program. Recipients must be second-year students who have clinically and scholastically demonstrated their dedication to the program.

Columbia County Scholarship

Established: 2003

This fund was established to support a student from Columbia County maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher. Preference will be given to a student in the Nursing program.

D

Eldon “Pete” and Isabella M. “Pat” Dietrich Scholarship

Established: 2019

This fund was established to honor the Dietrich family’s lifelong commitment to education. Eldon “Pete” Dietrich helped create WWCC and served as the college’s first president from 1967-1982. This fund will support WWCC students with the goal of allowing, “people to do things they otherwise couldn’t do.” Preference will be given to students interested in continuing their education at a 4-year college and pursuing a degree in education.

John Deere Ag Tech Scholarship

Established: 2004 

This fund was established by the John Deere Foundation to provide scholarships to students enrolled in the John Deere program at WWCC. Students should maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.

E

Eastern Oregon Region PNCWA/AWWA Scholarship

Established: 2018

This fund was established through a partnership between the Eastern Oregon Region Pacific Northwest Clean Water Association and the American Water Works Association. It is their desire to fund one scholarship annually for a Walla Walla Community College student who is enrolled in the Energy Systems Technology program. Recipient must have graduated from Eastern Oregon high school.

Educate America’s Future Scholarship

Established: 2020

This fund was established to support any student enrolled at WWCC without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, gender, age, marital status, or sexual orientation. Consideration will be given first to students who do not qualify for other sources of funding and demonstrate financial need. In addition, preference will be given to first-generation students, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, or those who have overcome substantial educational or economic obstacles.

Ehrenreich High Achiever Scholarship

Established: 2019

This fund was established to provide supports to high achieving, second year WWCC Clarkston students with demonstrated financial need.

Elsa Emigh Credit Shelter Trust Scholarship

Established: 2009

This fund was established to support students who have financial need and have demonstrated academic achievement.

Mary Garner Esary Scholarship

Established: 1999

This scholarship was established with funding from the Mary Garner Esary Trust to support WWCC students with demonstrated financial need.

ETS Labs Merit Scholarship

Established: 2014

This fund was established to support students in the Enology and Viticulture program. Recipients should be second-year students maintaining a GPA of 3.75 or higher. Recipients will also show an interest in researching best practices and developing new practices for local wineries.

Enology and Viticulture Scholarship

Established: 2002

This fund was established by a variety of individuals to provide scholarships for Enology and Viticulture students.

Figgins Family Wine Estates Scholarship

Established: 2017

This fund was established to support three WWCC Enology and Viticulture students who demonstrate potential for success in the wine industry. Students selected must be making good academic progress towards their degrees.

G

Ganguet Nursing Scholarship

Established: 1999

This fund was established to support WWCC students in the Nursing program who demonstrate professional potential, positive attitude, leadership skills, and exceptional achievement in the classroom.

Dr. Michael and Susan Gillespie Scholarship

Established: 2014

This fund was established to support students seeking a degree or certificate in any of the WWCC Workforce programs.

Dayl and Doris Graves Automotive Scholarship

Established: 1987

This scholarship is available for WWCC students interested in the Automotive Repair Technology program or related course of study. Recipients must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

H

Benjamin Daniel Haight Memorial Scholarship

Established: 2008

This fund was created to support a second-year student at WWCC planning to transfer to a 4-year college or university. Preference is given to students interested in Math or Science. Recipients must demonstrate excellent character and willingness to help others.

Pat Hartford Memorial Scholarship

Established: 2001

This scholarship was established to support a student who maintains a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Priority is given to a WWCC student who is a single parent with demonstrated financial need.

Horsepower Scholarship

Established: 2019

This fund was established to support students enrolled in WWCC’s Enology and Viticulture program. Priority will be given to students with demonstrated interest in biodynamic and/or natural wine production, first-generation college students, and students with demonstrated financial need.

Human Capital: Enology and Viticulture Scholarship

Established: 2018

This fund was established to support students enrolled in the WWCC Enology and Viticulture program.

J

Joly Family Enology and Viticulture Scholarship

Established: 2018

This fund was established by the Joly family to provide support to students enrolled in WWCC’s Enology and Viticulture program. Awards are based on financial need.

Todd Johnston and Karen (Dicus) Johnston Scholarship

Established: 2017

This fund was established to support students enrolled in any of the WWCC Workforce programs. Scholarships are awarded to students who have experienced personal challenges but have made the decision to pursue positive change in their lives.

Sherri Jones Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Established: 2019

In memory of nursing instructor Sherri Jones, this fund was established to support students in the WWCC Nursing program. A very caring nurse and teacher, Sherri held students to a high expectation and, in doing so, inspired them to reach a place they did not think they could go. Awards will be made to second-year Nursing students who demonstrate financial need and a desire to further their education.

Rasty E. & Nona F. Ketcherside Scholarship

Established: 2002

This scholarship was established to support WWCC students from the Dayton, Waitsburg, Starbuck or Prescott area pursuing studies in Nursing, Agriculture, or Agricultural Business.

Harold and Deidre Y. King Scholarship for Workforce Education

Established: 2017

This fund was established to support full-time students in any of the Workforce programs.

King Services Scholarship

Established: 2019

This scholarship was established to support students attending WWCC on the Clarkston campus. Recipients must be enrolled in the Welding or Industrial Mechanics programs.

L

LaMare/Hernandez Scholarship

Established: 2012

This fund was established to support non-traditional students with experiencing financial need. This scholarship is open to all students without regard for citizenship status or degree/certification pathway.

Neal Larson Memorial Automotive Scholarship

Established: 2018

This fund was established by the Downtown Walla Walla Foundation to provide support to students with demonstrated financial need enrolled in WWCC’s Automotive program.

Late-Start STEM Scholarship

Established: 2018

Scholarship awards are made in winter- and spring-quarters to support students in STEM classes and pathways. This scholarship is timed to assist students who may have decided to come to WWCC later in the academic year who may have more limited access to scholarships and financial aid at that time of year.

Jon M. Lynch Memorial Scholarship

Established: 1996

In memory of Jon M. Lynch, this scholarship is designated to support a student with interest in Rodeo, or an Agriculture related program who exemplifies the standards and completive spirit of Jon: kind, considerate, diligent, conscientious, and goal seeking.

James McClellan Memorial Scholarship

Established: 2002

This scholarship was established to support students enrolled in both the Enology and Viticulture program and the Nursing program. Awards alternate annually between the two programs.

Bill and Dorothy McRae Memorial Scholarship

Established: 2017

Created in memory of Bill and Dorothy McRae, this scholarship supports any student enrolled at WWCC.

MDU Foundation Scholarship

Established: 2012 

Monahan-Brucks Nursing Scholarship

Established: 2017

This fund was established to provide 21 scholarships annually to WWCC students enrolled in the Nursing program.

N

Lea Neyer Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Established: 2019

This fund was established in memory of WWCC Clarkston Nursing student Lea Neyer. Lea was a person who truly embodied kindness and giving. Her love of people, volunteering, and service to others will continue through this scholarship for Nursing students on the Clarkston campus.

Northwest Wine and Food Society Scholarship

Established: 2020

This fund was established to support students in the Enology and Viticulture program at WWCC. Preference is given to students attending from Clark County.

P

Pacific Power Scholarship

Established: 2012

This fund provides scholarship support for students from the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) who are enrolled in the Watershed Ecology program.

Don and Evelyn Patterson Memorial Workforce Scholarship

Established: 2005

This scholarship fund was established in memory of Don Patterson, who attended WWCC as a non-traditional student. After Don graduated from the HVAC program he was then hired by the college. This scholarship available to full-time students enrolled in the Energy Systems Technology program, which includes HVAC education.

Phoenix Scholarship

Established: 2016

This scholarship is awarded to students who have experienced personal challenges and have made the decision to pursue positive change in their live. Preference is given to students enrolling from Lincoln High School.

R

Ritchie Family Fund

Established: 2017

This fund was established in honor of Sandra Ritchie and her family’s history of performing high-quality commercial construction in Walla Walla and the surrounding region. When the Carpentry program closed, the family wanted to support WWCC Nursing students. Two scholarships are awarded each academic year to students in the Nursing program.

Rotary Club of Walla Walla Scholarship

Date Established: 1996

This fund was established with generous, ongoing support from the members of the Rotary Club of Walla Walla. Scholarships support students attending WWCC who reside in the Walla Walla and Milton-Freewater areas.

Jon & Susan Rubin Memorial Fund

Established: 2009

In memory of Jon Rubin, this fund was established to provide emergency assistance support to WWCC students in need.

Marybelle Savage Nursing Scholarship

Established: 2006

Marybelle and James Savage established this fund to provide a scholarship to a second year WWCC student in the Nursing program.

Charles R. and Louise V. Setlow Memorial STEM Scholarship

Established: 2015

This fund was established to support WWCC students pursuing a STEM-related field of study or career path. Recipient should have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and preference is given to students on the Clarkson campus.

Kenneth E. Shelton Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Established: 2019

In memory of Kenneth Shelton, this fund was established to support students in the Nursing program and those pursuing a Nursing Assistant certification. Mr. Shelton believed strongly in the importance of Nursing as a vocation and his daughter is a graduate of the WWCC Nursing program.

Harold and Helen Shepherd Fund

Established: 1987

The Harold and Helen Shepherd Foundation is focused on providing scholarships and student emergency assistance awards. This scholarship fund was established to support WWCC students with financial need who have graduated from Pomeroy High School.

Steffens Foundation Scholarship

Established: 2018

This fund was established to provide scholarships for Nursing Assistant students with demonstrated financial need on the WWCC Clarkston campus.

Stevens

Established: 2000

This fund was established to support any student pursuing a GED at WWCC. Recipients should have demonstrated financial need and a minimum of 2.5 GPA.

Tarwater Rodeo Scholarship

Established: 2000

In memory of Curtis Tarwater who was a founder of the WWCC Rodeo Club. This scholarship is designated to support students interested in the Rodeo program at WWCC.

Alf & Mildred Transeth Memorial Scholarship

Established: 1999

This scholarship was established to support two students at WWCC annually. One recipient from the John Deere or Agriculture Technology program. The second recipient should be someone who demonstrates financial need.

Tri-Cities Wine Society

Established: 2017

This fund was established to support any WWCC student enrolled in the Enology and Viticulture program.

Dr. Steven L. and Rozanne VanAusdle Fund

Established: 2020

WWCC’s third president, Dr. Steven VanAusdle and his wife Rozanne established this fund to provide financial support in the form of scholarships and/or emergency financial assistance to students enrolled at WWCC. Priority will be given to first-generation students, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, and/or those who are striving to overcome substantial educational or economic obstacles.

W

Walla Walla Flat Roof Educational Energy Scholarship

Established: 2019

This fund was established to provide support for recent high school graduates interested in solar energy. Awards are based on financial need and academic standing.

Walla Walla Sunrise Rotary Scholarship

Established: 2015

This fund was established to support incoming first year WWCC students who have recently graduated from a Walla Walla County high school. Recipient must have a 3.0 GPA and exemplify the value and importance of giving back to their community through community service.

Carrie Welch Scholarship

Established: 2009

This fund was established to support WWCC students in any Workforce program. Recipient must be a graduate from a Walla Walla County high school.

WWCC Foster Scholarship

Established: 2014

This fund was established to provide significant assistance to WWCC students who have aged out of the foster care system or students who come from circumstances like those who have aged out of the foster care system.

WWCC Foundation’s Nursing Scholarship

WWCC Veterans Scholarship

Established: 2019

This fund was established to support Veterans who served honorably on active duty in the armed forces of the United States and are pursuing an education at WWCC.

Yakima Enological Society Scholarship

Established: 2019

This fund was established to support students enrolled in the Enology and Viticulture program. Preferred is given to students with demonstrated financial need and a GPA of 3.0 of higher.
